Nestled between the Originally consisting mostly of ranch land and orchards, Sunland-Tujunga is now filled with single family residences mixed with low-rise apartment and condominium buildings, though remnants of the orchards and ranches are still visible. ET, the Extraterrestrial was one of many movies to be filmed in the community. However, the movies can't compete with the community's real-life history. Sunland-Tujunga was first home to one of the largest Indian villages in the Southland and later as fertile ground for Spanish missionaries. Sunland-Tujunga is home to many different types of people from all walks of life. Many of the area residents are involved in films and the media in one way or another.
